Investing in Medford’s Future: An Override Win Backed by Our Revolution Medford

Medford voters made a powerful statement this past November by approving two critical overrides—Questions 7 and 8—championed by Our Revolution Medford (ORM).

Question 7 secures $3.5 million annually to stabilize funding for Medford Public Schools and establish a permanent Department of Public Works crew dedicated to repairing our streets and sidewalks.

Question 8 injects $4 million each year to expand arts, vocational programs, and fair compensation for educators and paraprofessionals.

This is a historic moment—Medford had never before passed an override since the enactment of Proposition 2½ in 1980. Thanks in large part to ORM’s grassroots mobilization, outreach efforts, and alignment with city leadership, these measures passed decisively.

Immediate Impacts:

  • Schools gain much-needed funding for staff retention, literacy support, mental health services, technology, and building maintenance.
  • Infrastructure receives a boost in sustaining and repairing our city’s aging roads and sidewalks via a dedicated DPW crew.
  • Enrichment: Expanded access to arts, vocational offerings, and improved teacher compensation supports a thriving, inclusive educational environment.
  • Community: ORM’s organizing helped bridge the gap between policymakers and voters, turning investment proposals into civic action.

This victory underscores ORM’s vital role in amplifying community needs and building momentum for meaningful, sustainable change in Medford. It’s not just about preventing cuts—it’s about cultivating a stronger, more equitable city where our schools and infrastructure are well-resourced and our educators and students can flourish.
